CARLUKE’S Christmas Lights Switch On event illuminated the spirits of families who attended the annual celebration in the town centre.
The festivities – hosted by Radio Clyde’s Gina McKie – featured an appearance by Santa and saw the lights switched on by 2014 Gala Queen Claire-Jayne Rae.
The Gazette caught up with some of the Carluke folk enjoying the fun which also included music, games, competitions, market stalls and fairground rides.
“I love coming down and seeing the entertainment,” said Alistair Brumm (47), of Glenshee Lane, who was there with his 11-year-old son, High Mill Primary pupil Gregor.
“Gregor loves the stalls, so it is a very good night.”
And Gregor chipped in: “It is my first time here and it is great fun.”
Other folk loving the entertainment on offer included Claire Nicholson (36), of Glenshee Gardens, her son Jack (5), who attends Carluke Primary School and her 64-year-old mum Liz Nicholson.
Claire said: “This event makes you feel nice and festive and brings a wonderful atmosphere to the town.
“The children love it as well. The highlight for them is when Santa makes his appearance.”
Freelance photographer Sarah Peters was on hand to capture the action for the Gazette and her pictures are featured in our slideshow, created for your viewing pleasure by Gazette editor Julie Currie.
Sarah’s pictures can be purchased now on the Buy A Photo section of our website – it would make a cracking Christmas gift!
