The incident happened just after 6pm, while the vehicle was being driven on the A706 near West Forth Farm.

It was struck by an object thrown from within a group of three males, aged approximately 18 to 20 years old.

The 46-year-old driver was alone in the car at the time.

“This could have had serious implications and witnesses are sought,” said a police spokesman.

Anyone with information should call the national police number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
