The most prestigious night in Lanarkshire’s business calendar saw ten local businesses each take a 2014 winning title home.
More than 400 guests from some of Lanarkshire’s most entrepreneurial organisations from the private, public and voluntary sectors were honoured in their field at the 21st Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards. Guests cheered as the winning Lanarkshire companies were announced after being voted the best in the region by a panel of judges.
The ceremony was compered by Fred MacAulay with guest speaker Ellis Watson, CEO, DC Thompson and surprise entertainment from duo Playing Politics who delighted guests with their take on current news.
The awards were hosted by North and South Lanarkshire Council with Johnston Press as joint media sponsors.
Councillor Chris Thompson, of South Lanarkshire Council, opened the evening. He said: “It was a real celebration for everyone and a great way to celebrate their business achievements and success.”
With record applications and record numbers in attendance, Councillor David Fagan, regeneration and infrastructure committee convener at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “The finalists and winners are a positive illustration of the excellent strides that are being made in Lanarkshire to develop the area as a good location to do business.”
Russell Ward, Chief Executive from main sponsor Motherwell Bridge commented: “It is with great pleasure that Motherwell Bridge has been the main sponsor of these prestigious awards for the past two years and I would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists who have made this event such a success.”
