There’s a definite buzz amongst businesses in East Renfrewshire as many are waiting to see how they can take part in a billion pounds worth of investment.

That’s how much the new Glasgow and Clyde Valley City Deal is worth.

Over the next 20 years some 26 projects will be put out to contract under the umbrella of City Deal, generating countless opportunities for samll and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to benefit as sub contractors delivering all kinds and services.

Among the projects being funded in East Renfrewshire will be the redevelopment of the Levern Works site in Barrhead, including the old Nestle factory, building a new train station at Barrhead South and creating a destination wakepark centre at Dams to Darnley Country Park.

In total, £44million will be invested in East Renfrewshire.

The Glasgow and Clyde Valley City Deal is an agreement between the UK Government, the Scottish Government and the councils for East Ren, North and South Lanarkshire, Glasgow City, Renfrewshire, East and West Dunbartonshire and Inverclyde.

The Supplier Development Programme (SDP) will work with the City Deal group to offer support to SMEs.

SDP, with North and South Lanarkshire, is hosting a free information event in the banqueting suite at South Lanarkshire Council this Friday, November 6.

All potential SMEs are welcome.
