Photographer Sarah Peters, one of the Gazette’s regular photographers, captured this view of the Blood Moon over Douglas, near Lanark, in the early hours of this morning.

The Blood Moon is the result of a rare combination of an eclipse with the closest full moon of the year, a supermoon. Last time one appeared was in 1982, and it will be October 2033 before the next one.

Well done Sarah for capturing it!
