All set for Lanark’s New Year dinner

THE Royal Burgh of Lanark’s 15th Annual New Year Dinner will be held at the Cartland Bridge Hotel, Lanark on Saturday, January 4.

This event began in 2000 to celebrate the Millennium but has continued every year since.

An excellent line up of speakers will take part in the evening,compered by the former Procurator Fiscal Stewart Houston.

Giving the Toast to the Royal Burgh of Lanark will be the well-known television antiques expert Mrs Anita Manning of the Great Western Auctions Ltd.

The Toast to The Lassies of the Burgh will be given by the Gazette’s Ron Harris with the appropriate reply to be given by Mrs Anne Brooks, the 2012 Lanimer Sashing Lady.

The Man of Humour this year will be John McKelvie, a retired Police Superintendantfrom Strathclyde Police who is now one of Scotland’s leading after dinner speakers.
