AMBITIOUS plans have been lodged to build a £200,000 six-track motocross facility for children and adults in an idyllic 120-acre countryside setting near Rigside.
The project, proposed for Tinto End, is the brainchild of veteran Boghead motorcycle ace Robbie Allan.
"I'm really excited by these plans," former Dakar Rally participant Robbie (67), told the Gazette.
"It is something that nobody else has done before.
"I've been thinking about doing this for years, because the number of motocross track facilities in the central belt of Scotland has dwindled from 30 in the 1950s to just 11 today.
"You don't get many motocross tracks that are set in the hills. There is currently nothing as advanced as this anywhere in Britain.
"I'm confident of getting planning approval for this because I've had a good reaction to the idea from local members of the public and politicians.
"In Rigside, local people have been annoyed by kids running about the streets on their bikes.
"So having the kids riding in our controlled environment would solve these problems for them."
