THE second farmers' market held in Carluke on Saturday has been declared "a great success".
The event, which boasted a range of fresh food including specialist cheeses, meat and vegetables, was busy all morning with some stalls almost selling out.
The popularity of the day has boosted Carluke as a possible venue for a regular market ever
y three months.
The original plan was for a monthly farmers’ market in the town, but the Lanarkshire farmers busy schedule has ruled that out.
Carluke Development Trust Officer, Mirka Ryjackova, who helped organise the event, said: “The day went really well. The market traders were very happy so I think it was a great success.
“The next step is finding out if Carluke will get a regular farmers market, which we should hear about next month.
“The farmers are very busy hosting markets in other Lanarkshire towns so they only have a space every three months, which I think is ideal for Carluke.
There is also the possibility of a festive market in the second week of December but this has not been confirmed yet.”
The farmer’s market in Carluke was launched when the Development Trust approached Lanarkshire Farmers’ Market and Carluke Traders to suggest the idea of hosting the event in the town.
Currently Lanarkshire Farmers’ host monthly markets in Crossford, Hamilton and East Renfrewshire.
