A STRANGER landing in Coalburn on Saturday could have been forgiven for thinking they were on another planet!
For Frankenstein and his son mixed with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, as well as clowns, pirates and neds - to name just a few!

But any stranger would have certainly been assured of a warm welcome...as Coalburn residents were in fact celebrating their annual gala day!

Amy Burnside was as pretty as a picture as she was crowned 2008 Coalburn Gala Day queen.

And while rain threatened, it didn't stop people turning out in force - both to take part in the procession and to witness the crowning ceremony.

Happily, it proved yet another successful day for the Coalburn Gala Day committee who would like to thank all locals for their continued support.

Gazette photographer Lindsay Addison was out and about catching all the magic of the day.

And here in this special slideshow, we've featured all of the pictures Lindsay snapped on the day.

Priced just £5 each, the pictures can now be ordered from our offices on 01555 678792 or 772802.
