The school was shut early for the holidays last Wednesday, as pupils began their summer break two days prematurely.

Ironically the school boasts that it has its gold award as a Health Promoting School.

And there are fears that the Swine Flu could be spread throughout the community.

One concerned 35-year-old parent, who tested negative for Swine Flu, said: "I'm shocked to hear that as many as 38 Crawforddyke kids have Swine Flu.

"Me and my seven-year-old son were relieved to test negative, because we had a number of symptoms including a cough, headache, sore throats and a high temperature.

"What is concerning is that I know other kids who have been diagnosed with Swine Flu who are up and about. It's not as if they're confined to their beds and unable to move.

"I'm still worried about going out in Carluke and maybe catching Swine Flu."
