Scottish Makar Liz Lochhead reawakens heartbeat of Burns poetry in school children Scotland?s Makar (poet) Liz Lochhead, today gave a live broadcast to children across Scotland during a special Robert Burns celebration via the Scottish Book Trust website. The Scottish Friendly Meet Our Authors Event, run by Scottish Book Trust, was broadcast live from Glasgow and will be available afterwards for free from the Scottish Book Trust website. During the event, Liz read her favorite Burn?s poetry including To a Mouse and her own response From a Mouse. She revealed secrets about the way she writes and answered questions from the audience on what inspired her to first write. The event was attended by children from Girvan Academy, Oban High School, and High Mill Primary School Carluke (names below).  Over 10,000 thousand children across the UK watched in their classrooms on (http://www.scottishbooktrust.com/authors-live-with-liz-lochhead) at 11am. Youngsters from High Mill Primary in Carluke had the chance to meet Scotland’s Makar (poet) Liz Lochhead, when she gave a live broadcast to children across Scotland in a special Robert Burns celebration via the Scottish Book Trust website.

The Scottish Friendly Meet Our Authors Event, run by Scottish Book Trust, was broadcast live from Glasgow on Thursday.

High Mill pupils have been following the programme avidly and their teacher wrote asking if the P6 and P7 pupils could be in the audience for the broadcast – 13 children were then delighted to be invited along.

Pupils from Oban and Girvan were also in the audience, while over 10,000 children across the UK watched in their classrooms.
