A LANARK woman, who has been treading the boards locally for many years, is the new star of the Singing Kettle.

Hannah McConnell (26), known by her stage name Anya Scott-Rodgers, beat off competition from hundreds of young hopefuls to land the role; she replaces departing founder members Cilla Fisher and Artie Trezise.

Anya will join current members Gary Coupland and Kevin Macleod on stage at the SECC next month for the filming of the new Singing Kettle DVD entitled Rumble in the Jungle.

She said: “My family and close friends knew – I’m surprised I’ve managed to keep it a secret for so long!”

For more information on the new Kettle star, pick up a copy of this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now.
