START spreading the news – members of Lanark and Carluke Choral Union will be travelling to New York and performing in Carnegie Hall.

Director Phillip Fox and Choral Union members have been invited to participate in a performance of Karl Jenkins’ The Peacemakers on January 19 next year.

The Choral Union first performed The Peacemakers at a concert in Lanark’s St Mary’s Church in April and it would appear that they managed to make a tremendous impression!

The singers will spend five days in the Big Apple and nine to 10 hours rehearsing ahead of the big performance.

Shena Fox, from the Choral Union, said: “I got an email from the Carnegie Hall to say that they would like to invite us over.

“To be honest I thought it was a scam!”

Any local people or businesses who would like to sponsor the Choral Union on this trip should contact Shena on 07790 676676 or email choralunion@aol.com.
