THE principles developed by Robert Owen in New Lanark in the 19th century are being put to use in rural India.

Tourism experts from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, working in partnership with Scottish destination specialists, have applied the same principles to establish the first ecotourism co-operative in rural India.

They have now registered Bageshwar Ecotourism Co-operative Society in India.
