Lanark Information Centre has joined a national training programme that aims to prepare young people for future employment in the tourism industry.
Samea Mohammed (20), from Shawlands Academy and Danielle McLachlan (18) from Springburn Academy have been recruited as Modern Apprentices as part of the Scottish Government’s drive to get 25,000 young people into this type of training by March 31.
They will train as VisitScotland Visitor Service Advisors in Lanark Information Centre.
And tourism minister Fergus Ewing was there to meet them on Monday.
The tourism organisation is piloting its involvement in the Modern Apprenticeship Programme with Samea and Danielle working temporarily from Lanark over the next 12 months.
