THE new Blackwood and Kirkmuirhill Community Wing has been officially opened.

Councillor Hamish Stewart was on hand to do the honours at the facility which has replaced the Leisure Dome and the old Blackwood Hall.

The Wing includes a library, gym, a large hall and a small meeting room which the whole community can enjoy.

A new seven-a-side pitch is due to be completed in the spring.

The library was also officially named after long time Blackwood councillor (and Gazette correspondent) Esther Serrells.
